YOKOHAMA, Japan – Zuken Inc. (“Zuken”) has successfully delivered a DS-2 Expresso electrical design product data management (PDM) system to Hitachi Industry & Control Solutions, Ltd. (Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan; President and CEO: Mitsuo Takayama; hereafter, “Hitachi Industry & Control Solutions”).

The Hitachi Industry & Control Solutions Embedded Systems Innovation Department pursues unification in component data management, design deliverables management and utilization, and bill of materials (BOM) creation rules in the electrical and mechanism design fields, and has adopted the DS-2 Expresso as part of these efforts.

PDM systems normally take from six months to a year to build and introduce. Zuken made full use of the DS-2 Expresso’s unique advantages to successfully install and begin operations at Hitachi Industry & Control Solutions in an unprecedented short time span of only three months. The DS-2 Expresso comes pre-set with attribute data that are managed in component information, bill of materials or deliverables, already in optimized form; behavior definitions for system functions provided via a wide variety of templates; and more to minimize system customization and enable implementation of functions required by the customer in a short period of time.

Toshihiro Matsunaga, General Manager of the Embedded Systems Innovation Department under the Business Process Improvement Division at Hitachi Industry & Control Solutions commented as follows about this introduction of DS-2 Expresso.

“In addition to the short, three-month installation time, we are very pleased that this PDM system completely fulfills our functional requirements. We expect the newly introduced DS-2 Expresso to help us achieve design efficiency enhancement and quality improvement results in the electrical and mechanism design fields.”

The DS-2 Expresso also features a rich array of support services to reduce various burdens normally required at the user-side when introducing and running a PDM system. In order to provide electrical design environments that generate returns on investment as quickly as possible, Zuken will strive to further strengthen functionality and expand services for its PDM Systems in the future.
